A couple of words ... RMCC president Charlie Henderson, who had to miss the post-ride dinner last night, thanks all the riders for coming and partaking of the Last Chance! The Last Chance staff and the Rocky Mountain Cycling Club extend their congratulations and commendations to all the riders, and hope you felt rewarded from your trek across the vast plains.
We all come to a 1200k with a variety of backgrounds, riding styles, goals, expectations ... and trepidations! It was great to enjoy this variety both in the saddle and at the breaks, meet a lot of fine riders and fascinating personalities, and see some old friends, too.
We would also especially like to thank our dedicated and energetic volunteer staff, including:
- Charlie Henderson and Jim Kraychy (Atwood)
- Eric Simmons and Bobbe Foliart (Byers)
- Patricia Heller (Louisville finish and HQ)
- Tim Feldman (blog, rider progress, and finish-line support)
- Tom Foss and John Klever (registration and treasury)
- Dan Shields (food procurement)
- Buster the Dog - moral support and social chair
Riders had many accolades for the on-course volunteers, and well deserved! As a rider, dedicated volunteers make a huge difference in a long event such as the Last Chance, and I for one enjoyed great support from these individuals. Thank you so much!
